A majestic all brass four poster bed bedstead with crown and canopy. Detailed etched brass posts, displaying ornate brass fittings, support an impressive canopy, with decorative fretwork castings, surmounted by a brass crown. The two superbly elaborate panels have serpentine shaped top rails and large ornate brass castings.
This bed was made in Birmingham, UK, for the export market in the late 19th century. A lozenge registration date stamp on one brass fittings gives the design registration date as July 1871.
